Blogs at UMass Amherst will be unavailable on Monday, April 20, 2009 from 8 to 9 a.m. while we perform routine maintenance.
ReCaptcha Anti-spam Software Installed
OIT has installed new Captcha anti-spam software, ReCaptcha, on the Blogs at UMass Amherst server. Most users will first have to enter text they see in an image before making a comment on a post.
Captcha software ensures that humans, instead of computers, are making comments and, we hope, will greatly reduce the amount of “comment spam” blogs receive.
Note: The Captcha image and text field will not appear if you have set up your blog to only allow comments from other Blogs at UMass Amherst users.
Blogs Upgrade Complete
As you’ve probably noticed, the Blogs at UMass Amherst upgrade is now complete.
The new version of Blogs comes with many changes to the software’s interface and a revised list of supported themes, widgets, and plugins. For more information about what’s new and different, see: http://www.oit.umass.edu/blogs/upgrade/highlights.html
As a result of the upgrade, you may need to re-apply your blog’s theme, widgets, or plugins. To learn how to fix your blog after the upgrade, go to: http://www.oit.umass.edu/blogs/upgrade/fix.html
